Why Your Nails Won't Heal (And What Actually Works)

Damaged, brittle nails aren't just a gel-and-acrylic problem. And nail fungus? It doesn't discriminate — it shows up on fingernails and toenails alike, often from the most ordinary places.

The Problem Nobody Talks About

Most people assume nail damage is something that only happens to people who wear acrylics or gels. But the truth is, everyday habits take a real toll on your nails too.

Regular nail polish — especially with frequent removal using acetone — strips the nail plate of moisture over time. Shared salon tools can introduce bacteria and fungal spores. Frequent hand washing, cleaning products, and even just winter dryness leave nails brittle and cuticles cracked.

And once a fungal infection takes hold? It's notoriously stubborn. Most people don't even realise that's what they're dealing with until the damage is already visible.

Why Most Nail Products Don't Work

The pharmacy shelves are full of nail hardeners, cuticle oils, and strengthening polishes. The problem is that most of them are cosmetic — they coat the surface rather than penetrating the nail bed or healing the cuticle.

Synthetic fragrances, alcohol, and silicone-based ingredients can actually make things worse, drying out the cuticle further and creating a cycle of damage that's hard to break.

The Founder's Story

Our founder's nail journey wasn't dramatic — it was ordinary. Regular cutex, regular salon visits, nothing out of the ordinary. Until it was.

A fungal infection picked up from a shared tool at a salon left her nails in a state she'd never seen before. The doctor prescribed antibiotics — an expensive course that came with its own side effects. She tried cuticle oils and nail serums on top of that. Some helped a little. Nothing fixed it completely.

So she formulated her own solution. Something therapeutic, not just cosmetic. Something she could use every single day without worrying about what was in it.

The Nail & Cuticle Balm came out of that frustration — and it's been one of our most quietly beloved products ever since.

What the Nail & Cuticle Balm Actually Does

This isn't a one-ingredient wonder. The formula is a carefully layered blend of plant-based oils, butters, and waxes — each chosen for what it contributes to nail and cuticle recovery:

  • Hemp seed oil — rich in omega fatty acids, it penetrates deeply to nourish the nail bed and soften hardened cuticles without clogging pores
  • Shea butter — a deeply moisturising base that creates a protective barrier, locking in hydration and supporting skin repair around the nail
  • Vitamin E — a powerful antioxidant that supports cell regeneration and helps visibly improve the condition of damaged nails over time
  • Avocado oil — deeply penetrating and rich in vitamins A, D, and E; particularly effective on dry, damaged cuticles and brittle nails
  • Jojoba oil — structurally similar to the skin's natural sebum, it absorbs quickly and helps balance moisture without leaving a greasy residue
  • Mango butter — lightweight and non-comedogenic, it softens and smooths the skin around the nail while supporting elasticity
  • Cocoa butter — a rich emollient that melts into the skin, creating a long-lasting protective layer over the nail and cuticle
  • Coconut oil — known for its antimicrobial properties, it supports a healthy nail environment and helps condition the nail plate
  • Beeswax — the balm's base; seals in all the goodness and creates a breathable barrier that protects without suffocating
  • Jasmine essential oil — a gentle, skin-loving botanical that adds a subtle natural scent and supports skin comfort

Together, they work on the nail plate, the cuticle, and the surrounding skin — not just the surface.

How to Use It

Apply a small amount to each nail and cuticle before bed. Massage in gently and leave overnight. For best results, use daily for 2–4 weeks. It absorbs well and doesn't leave a greasy residue, so it works during the day too.

It works on fingernails and toenails. If you've had a fungal infection, consistent daily use over several weeks makes the biggest difference.

Who It's For

  • Anyone whose nails have taken a knock from regular polish and acetone removal
  • People with dry, cracked, or ingrown cuticles
  • Frequent hand washers — nurses, teachers, parents, anyone who cleans a lot
  • Anyone recovering from a nail fungal infection — on fingers or toes
  • Toenail sufferers: fungal toenail infections are one of the most common and most ignored nail conditions
  • Anyone who walks barefoot in shared spaces — gyms, pools, changing rooms
  • Toenail care in general, especially in winter when feet get neglected under socks and closed shoes
