BASE OILS AND BUTTERS
Every thoughtful formula begins with its foundation. Base oils and butters are the backbone of natural skincare, providing nourishment, protection, and balance for the skin. These plant oils—pressed from seeds, nuts, and fruits—work in harmony with the skin, helping to soften, soothe, and support healthy function.
Each oil and butter we use brings something different to the table. Some are rich and deeply conditioning, ideal for dry or stressed skin. Others are lighter and more easily absorbed, making them well-suited for oily or acne-prone skin. We choose our oils deliberately, based on what we want a product to do and how we want it to feel on the skin. We don’t select oils casually or based on trends. Each oil and butter is chosen for its specific fatty acid profile, skin affinity, and the role it plays in the overall balance of a formula.
In the world of skin and hair care, not all oils and butters are created equal. Many are lower-quality commercial-grade oils that are mass-produced and heavily refined, a process that strips away naturally occurring nutrients and compromises their ability to truly support the skin.
We use minimally processed plant oils and butters, selected for freshness, nutrient density, and integrity. Whenever possible, they are certified organic, sustainable, cruelty-free, and fairly traded.
These oils can be used on their own as simple, effective moisturizers, or serve as the base for herbal infusions and essential oil blends—carrying the benefits of plants directly to the skin. Because base oils and butters often make up the largest portion of a product, their quality, freshness, and integrity matter profoundly.
