Which personal/skin-care ingredients should sensitive skin types INCLUDE?

1. Cleanser for face 

The ideal kind of facial cleanser is one that maintains your skin's natural moisture, doing its job to remove dirt, makeup and excess oil, while not drying out the skin. Look for a soap-free, fragrance-free, gentle cleanser like our Pure Cleansing Balm. Be sure not to over-wash, as this can lead to dryness and irritation. Cleansing your face once in the morning and once in the evening should be enough. 

2. Keep showers or bath short and efficient

Sensitive skin doesn't only exist on your face, and if you have sensitive skin or a skin condition elsewhere on your body, it's important to treat it gently. We recommend using either fragrance-free bar soaps, such as our Coconut Milk & Oatmeal, Camel Milk & Oatmeal or PURE Silky Bubbles, or Pure Castile liquid soap. Furthermore, keep your shower time short, and use only warm (not hot) water. Avoid using washcloths or loofahs as well, as these can also irritate the skin. 

2. Moisture

As well as helping your skin feel softer and smoother, moisturisers and oils can improve hydration and help restore the skin's natural moisture barrier. Look for a gentle moisturiser/oil for sensitive skin that doesn't contain unnecessary (and potentially irritating) ingredients such as colours and fragrance. For your face, we recommend our Squalane Facial oil or Prickly Pear Seed Oil as they are both fragrance-free, non-irritating and non-comedogenic. 

For your body we recommend using either our Pure Rooibos Tea Body Butter, Pure Whipped Body Butter or Pure Body and Massage Oil

3. Exfoliation

Regular exfoliation helps to deep clean skin, removing irritants, impurities and pollutants, so it's good practice. Plus, exfoliation has the added benefit of removing dead skin cells and promoting skin renewal, giving you healthier-looking skin. But not all facial and body scrubs are the same. Although our Pure Foaming Body Scrub is fragrance-free, it still consist of sugar (for the exfoliating), therefore should only be used once a week. 

4. Deodorant

Although your underarms might not be top of mind when you think of hot spots of sensitivity, they should be. The underarm area practically invites antiperspirant irritation: The think, delicate skin is more prone to allergic reactions, plus the warm, moist environment is a breeding ground for bacteria when underarms rub against skin or clothing can cause further skin irritation. Avoid the following ingredients: Aluminium, Alcohol, Bicarbonate of Sodium, Fragrances. Our Pure Deodorant is perfect for sensitive skin as it is free of ALL chemicals, fragrance, parabens, aluminium, and the list goes on..

5. Hands

Our Pure Hand Cream is formulated to give sensitive and irritation-prone skin intensive moisturising comfort and a reduced feeling of dryness. With ingredients such as Hemp Seed Oil, Prickly Pear Seed Oil and Colloidal Oatmeal, it delivers nature's restorative power so that sensitive is cared for day by day.

6. Hair

Sensitive skin extends to your scalp, so if you're experiencing itching, stinging, or burning in that area, you might want to swap your usual shampoo and conditioner. We recommend our Pure Zero Waste Shampoo bar, which is Sulfate-free, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate free (SLS), free of  harsh surfactants that can strip the skin of natural oils and compromise skin health. and a anti-inflammatory formula that are infused with humectants and nourishing ingredients that will get your scalp health back on track.
